2010 has been very good to Japan’s biggest idol group, AKB48. These girls recorded impressive sales figures for their singles – “Beginner” beat out Arashi’s “Troublemaker” to be the #1 single of the year, for example - and made numerous international appearances, including in Singapore, Los Angeles, and Seoul.
For their appearance on NTV’s year-end music program, “Best Artist 2010“, AKB48 performed a throwback medley of their past hits, “Aitakatta“, “Iiwake Maybe“, and “Heavy Rotation“! We’re sure some fans may be disappointed that they didn’t perform “Beginner” or even “Ponytail no Shushu“, but it’s a great performance nonetheless.
